This event took place on Wednesday 12 August 2026 and was carefully planned to provide children and families with an enjoyable and memorable experience, bringing together social activities, entertainment, food and plenty of opportunities to have fun. Around 30 families, totalling approximately 80 people from across the West Midlands, attended the event in Stourport on Severn. The families receive support from ENZO Friends and the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Burns Unit.
The day began at John Ready’s Playland on the riverside, where everyone gathered before boarding the River King for a boat trip. Following the boat trip, the group enjoyed lunch at the Elizabeth Mills Centre before heading back to Treasure Island Fun Fair, where the children had the opportunity to enjoy the rides and attractions.
The day came to a lovely conclusion with thank-you presentations to Playland, River King and Treasure Island Fun Fair, recognising their time, generosity and support in helping to make the day so special and magical for the families. Before leaving, the children were also given goody bags to take home.
The event was organised by Heidi Share from FP Gaunt and Lucy Field from AJF Electrical Ltd, both members of Bewdley Rotary, with the support of fellow Bewdley Rotary members.
For the past 20 years, Syd Handy, a member of Bewdley Rotary, had organised this special event. This year, Syd handed over the reins to Heidi and Lucy for the first time, allowing them to continue the tradition and create another fantastic day for the children and families.
