The August Bank Holiday weekend was pay back time by mother nature for a summer of sun and drought and so it was no surprise that takings were down on our 10th Golf Weekend.

Mike Bullivant, Neil Hardwick, Bob Hill and Rob Baker worked hard for most of Friday in the worst possible weather to get the 46 sponsor boards into position.

Saturday was a literal wash out and a lot of golfers who were travelling some distance to take part in the Pines Open event did not risk the weather. So numbers were well down. However Colin Stott and Will Bassett stood out in the pouring rain for about 3 hours trying to entice Golfers, who had braved the weather, to take part in the Putting Competition and still managed to take £60. Well done to them both.

Overall, the amount raised was a bit down on last year, but despite all £460 was raised on the on the putting for the bottle, and the raffle raised £1,273. The sponsorship income should come in at around £6000 so the total will be just under £8000.

Thanks to all the members and friends who helped over the weekend both on the putting and with the sale of raffle tickets.

Credit goes to Bob and Annie Hill who do all the preparation work on which Bob starts in March. It is a magnificent effort by both and a very encouraging financial result for the Bewdley Rotary Charity Account.
